Stephen L. Braga, Esq.

A 1981 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Steve is a criminal defense attorney who has been repeatedly recognized as one of the top lawyers in the country by multiple organizations.  He has also received numerous awards for successful high-profile pro bono representations, including helping to achieve exoneration for Marty Tankleff after spending nearly two decades in prison for crimes he did not commit and securing the release of Damien Echols after spending eighteen years on death row in Arkansas for crimes he did not commit in the so-called West Memphis Three case.  After thirty-one years of practicing law in DC law firms large and small, Steve recently decided to found his own firm to focus his experience and skills toward the representation of individuals in trouble. He is also a Professor at the University of Virginia School of Law and the Director of the Appellate Litigation Clinic at the law school.
